Max Klein

I'm a portrait photographer based in Buenos Aires.

I was born here, but I didn't stay still. I lived in Munich, Caracas, Berlin, New York City and Hamburg.
Every city left something. Every move taught me to read people faster.

I studied film before photography, and that never left me. What interests me is what happens when the person in front of the camera stops performing. I look for that moment when something real comes through. Vulnerability, strength, tension, whatever is there. That's where the portrait begins for me.

I trained at the International Center of Photography in New York. I worked for years between Hamburg and Berlin, photographing actors, musicians, record labels and ad campaigns. My clients include Warner Music, Forbes, ZEIT Magazin, Sony, The Sunday Times and The Wire.

I work from my studio in Buenos Aires, with a second base in Hamburg.
